Many of my clients tell me that without regular coaching and accountability, they would have never been able to finish their books. Together we’ll create an action plan with a doable schedule of milestones. There are many steps to the process, but I won’t overwhelm you with all the details. We’ll take it at a pace that’s comfortable for you but that moves your book forward.
First the why. We’ll talk about your reasons for wanting to write a book. Making sure you have clarity from the start will ensure that you stay on track. I’ll help you with your outline and basic format.
We’ll focus on one thing at a time as I give you feedback on your writing and offer ideas that will make your book stand out.
Editing
The most important tip for all writers is to remember your audience. Who will be reading your book? Ultimately, you’re writing for them, not for you! As a former English teacher and college professor with 20+ years of professional experience in corporate copywriting and editing, I can smooth out your wording, point out places where things might need clarifying, and make sure things all hang together. In short, I’ll make you look good on the page!
Layout and Cover Design
An engaging cover design that reflects your book's content is crucial—while a good layout ensures easy readability. My associates and I provide affordable layout and cover design. I’ll walk you through all the decisions, helping you make good choices about formatting, design, color palette, images, your all-important author bio and more.
The Art of self-Publishing
Unless you’re already a well-known personality with book publishing contacts, you’re probably going to go the self-publishing route. You’ll need everything from an ISBN number to a bar code, not to mention a print-on-demand printer. Let me streamline all of this for you, saving you time and money.
Selling and Shipping Via Amazon
Once it’s finished, the next task is making it available for people to buy. We’ll set up your author account on Amazon and upload your book with relevant keywords and an enticing description. Then we’ll create your author page with your bio. When people order, Amazon’s print-on-demand feature will print and ship your book then periodically send you royalties. No going to the post office to mail out each and every book—it’s turnkey!

I am a former college English professor who spent 20 years in the corporate world writing everything from marketing copy to white papers before starting my own boutique marketing business in 2007.
After writing and self-publishing my own book (Your Mind on Marketing: Self-Help for People Who Hate Marketing But Have to Do It Anyway), I developed a comprehensive system to streamline the entire process.
Today, my primary focus is guiding aspiring authors as they complete the multiple steps of the self-publishing process. It is so gratifying to see my clients' reactions when they receive the first copies of their finished books!
